ABOUT MONROE

Monroe County, the most southeastern county in Michigan, is the gateway to the state. The county is rich in historical heritage and is well situated between the three major metropolitan centers of Detroit, Ann Arbor and Toledo.

Monroe County also provides a pleasant mix of urban and rural surroundings, and has a well-defined transportation system of roads, freeways, airports, rail lines and a port. The River Raisin bisects the county north and south and flows into Lake Erie. This rich plain soil has been suited in making agriculture a leading industry.
